My name’s Oli, and this is my little space of the internet to talk about one of my biggest passions, American Whiskey. I have to qualify that term slightly – I’m not just talking about bourbon, or even just whiskey from the US, but whiskey from the continent of North America. So I include Canadian whisky in my little book of tasting notes. Scotch, Irish and Japanese whisky; I like them just fine. But I’ve been exploring my love for American whiskey for about three years now, and have tasted over a hundred different whiskeys.
In the UK bourbon is a lot harder to come by, at least if you want to try a variety. But there are places, and there are ways. I’ll be sharing some of the best bars and venues I’ve found for finding rare and interesting whiskeys, and I’ll also be trying to make the terrain a little more negotiable by explaining what makes whiskeys different and how to try them for yourself.
Outside of whiskey tasting I’m a musician, a father, and a non-skating official for UK roller derby. My derby name is ‘Whistley Sour’.
A lot of the photographs on this website were taken by my partner in crime, The Southsea Wanderer.
Great to meet you yesterday over some outstanding bourbons. What an evening! May I have your e-mail address to stay in touch? Cheers, Jono.
